A MISSING weapon may be the link to two cases of eve-teasing by railway minister Lalu Prasad’s sons.
Tarun and Tejpal Yadav were allegedly involved in eve-teasing at the Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi and later at Connaught Place before finally getting involved in a scuffle at a New Years’ Eve party in Chattarpur.
At least that is what the police sources investigating the matter have reportedly found. Sources in south district said, “This is what our initial investigations into the matter are revealing, after a case of a missing weapon was reported by a member of the RPF personnel to us”.
A day after the incident was first reported with the south district police, the police registered a robbery case against unidentified assailants who allegedly ran away with Yadav’s bodyguard’s gun and beat him up as well.
Tarun and Tejpal had got into trouble for allegedly indulging in eve-teasing on New Year’s Eve and were later beaten up by unidentified assailants.
“We have registered a case at the Mehrauli police station and investigations are underway. No arrest has been made yet,” Delhi Police commissioner Y.S. Dadwal said.
“We are trying to identify who those boys could be and at present it is still be too early to speculate”, said a senior police officer.
The head constable, Om Dutt, who was accompanying the Yadav sons, was beaten with a stick on his head and reportedly lost his gun in the scuffle. The PSO later went and filed a complaint with the Mehrauli police station.
Sources said, “While in CP, the two brothers, accompanied by the PSOs of Delhi Police and Railway Protection Force, decided to attend a party in the Chhatarpur area on the Delhi-Haryana border. On their return, they allegedly passed some remarks at girls who were partying at a farm house near Mehrauli.
“However, this time they ran short of luck when a group of youngsters decided to thrash them. The PSOs, sensing the gravity of the situation, did not reveal the identity of the two,” the sources said.
Nursing bruises, Tarun and Tejpal were rushed to a hospital where they were administered first-aid, the sources said. At that stage, the PSO realised that his personal weapon was missing. |
